UV-resistance

UV-resistance

The UV-resistance or light fastness describes how printed colour reacts after long radiation of UV-light. UV-light can cause corrosion that leads to colour changes. Since sunlight has a high UV-level, UV-resistance is very important for every colour that is used outdoors.

Printouts in black are generally very UV-resistant, because soot - which means pur carbon which doesn't decompose - is used as pigment.

Pigments used for colour TTR are more sensitive to UV ligth, especially red and mixtures which contain red pigments. But colour pigments are available in different levels of fastness and even higly resistant colour ribbons for outdoor applications exist.
