Back-Coating

The back-coating of a ribbon is usually about 0,2 µm strong. This silicon layer has different purposes:

• Protect the polyester foil from melting in the process of printing
• Reduce the electrostatic charge of the ribbon during the multiple winding processes
• Improve the gliding properties of the ribbon in contact with the print head
