Uneven print throughout the width of the label

Uneven print throughout the width of the label

Thermal transfer printing: uneven print

Explanation

Wrong printhead pressure. The printhead pressure is the spring force the printhead exerts on thermal transfer ribbon and label. This pressure should be properly adjusted on the machine to gain a good printout.
(printhead pressure too low = greyish and translucent printout, long printhead life; printhead pressure too high = dark and intense printout, premature printhead failure; one-sided printhead pressure = one-sided and faulty print)

Help

Adjust printhead pressure. Bear in mind that some thermal transfer ribbons perform best when using relatively low printhead pressure. If the printer is equipped with an adjustable printhead (like Zebra printers) always start printing with a low pressure. Raise slowly until achieving best result.
